Here is an article about how nursing homes, hospitals, etc. can now give away unused usable drugs to places that need them in about 16 states.
Another 17 states are in the process of implementing similar programs.
They mention a defunct website in Missouri that helped locate such places. This might mean that other states might have websites that are functional.
If you can find places that receive free drugs then possibly some of those places might give them to people in need.
Lot of ifs here but it might be worth checking out if you are backed into a corner.
