lilskydrm24,

One method is to use your community health center (or clinic). They have a sliding scale, they usually respond quickly to major problems (such as no testing supplies). Contact your local Health Department to find out what help is available in your area http://www.hhs.gov/about/regionmap.html

There are many free clinics that can provide your father with supplies as well. These clinics usually will treat anyone with a illness that has no insurance. Your local Health Department should be able to help you locate one in your area or go to http://www.needymeds.org/free_clinics.taf.

Both of the options above do have medical supplies that your father may also benefit from as well.

Another option is to contact your local United Way as they can also be of some assistance to you. You can find your local office on this site-
http://www.unitedway.org
They maintain the Family Wize Prescription Drug Savings Program in which your father may be able to save 10-20% on his medications.

Contact your local hospital and ask to speak to their social services department. They can assist you in applying for a PAP, or find resources that can be of help to you in obtaining supplies.

If living in Mississippi or New Jersey, both have a one time free emergency help. For Mississippi call 601-957-7878 For New Jersey, call
201-444-8337.

This is a charity organization that gives money to people with low income that run into a one-time expense that could be life threatening.

The website www.ipump.org takes donations of diabetes supplies and distributes them to other organizations that serve people in need. There is a list on their site. They also give out supplies directly. This is where you file out the form for diabetic supplies www.ipump.org/assistance/reds_1.html when you cannot afford them.

www.IsletsOfHope.com is another great place to find information about diabetes and how to get assistance.
