dlcnurse,

Wow! This is a great idea!

I hope everyone will post everything they can find.

Please include local methods for saving money also. There are many people in your area that could be helped PLUS most local promotions are used elsewhere in the country. (An example is that many "Mom & Pop" pharmacies compete with the giants by providing similar very low cost generic drug programs. These programs are identical to ones offered by other "Mom & Pop" pharmacies elsewhere in the country.)

Let's make November... "National Diabetes Cost Reduction Month" :-)

Here are a few things that are happening in the month of November:

Visit your local Rite Aid pharmacy and recieve a free 2009 Diabetes Guide

Visit your local Walgreen Pharmacy-offering a free glucose and A1c testing

Visit http://www.levemir-us.com/offer/default.aspx or http://www.novolgmix70-30.com/offer/default.aspx for a $25.00 rebate coupon

For the ladies out there visit http://www.divabetic.org A site especially for Women: "Diabetes Outreach for Women" they are sponsering alot of programs that you can attend. The site also has alot of great material on it. One program if you live in New York is the DIVABetic-Makeover Your Diabetes is from 1-4 pm in NYC on November 14th (which happens to be World Diabetes Day). This site has alot of other programs in different states as well. I think the Ladies out there with diabetes would really like the internet site. It is great and will give a wealth of info for you.

Another site "Changing Life with Diabetes", is also offering some great diabetes tools such as meal planners, blood glucose diaries can be found here- http://www.clwd.com

Well that's all for now. I hope to find more happenings for our November Awareness and Cost Reductions Diabetes Days!

With National Diabetes Awareness Month please also if you are able, donate to help spread awareness of diabetes across the nation so that many newly diagnosed and preventing diabetes awareness to our fellow americans. Even 1.00 will go a long way in helping. So please DONATE if you can.

If you want to attempt to get to a Walgreens A1C blood testing event then call (1-877-926-3968). The automated system will give you the dates and times of testing at the nearest PARTICIPATING Walgreens.

There is not much participation around here. All of the Walgreens locations given were 2 to 6 hours away and NONE were in WV even though there are 3 Walgreen locations near me.

The test given is the same Bayer A1C home test kit you can buy at their stores: 2 tests for $30. It is definitely cheaper for me buy a kit.
