Imitrex is excellent but since it has been around for a while it is going generic. The Stat Dose form is already generic in the U.S. and the oral form will go generic here next year (2009). Generic Imitrex has the identical active drug as the brand name. Half of generics are made by the Brand name drug companies.
Canada (and every other country) does not have the U.S.'s new abusive drug patent restrictions therefore Imitrex as a generic is already available there. A quality Canadian pharmacy can get you generic Imitrex at less than half the price of it in the U.S.
Imitrex is the first drug in the class called Triptans. These drugs all use the same mechanism to fight migraine headaches and the Brand name drug manufacturers call them "me too" drugs because they are all use virtually the same chemicals.
Imitrex advertises more than the other Triptans and passes that cost to the consumer, therefore it is one of the most expensive of the Triptans even though it is the oldest.
Other Triptans include: Maxalt, Zomig, Amerge, Axert, Relpax, and Frova
If you cannot use coupons for Imitrex then you might want to try coupons for any of these clones.
